Takayama is known for their Traditional Houba sushi. We bought 3 beef and 1 mushroom version and ate at the shop. It was delicious beyond my expectations! I could have eaten 3 more! The restaurant also serves Hida beef sushi and beautifully presented regular sushi. The husband and wife team run this small but clean, stylish restaurant. You can also buy Hida beef sushi to go. The wife was especially tentative. At the near by table, a toddler knocked his dad's beer, and the wife not only quickly wipe the table clean, but also bought a new beer for dad. Very nice. :) Try their Houba sushi!

Hida beef melts in your mouth, ridiculously good. You can also order small bite sized meals in the small window outside the restaurant. Close to the nakabashi bridge. We spent around 2,300 yen per person for a full meal each. All of them were excellent and cheaper than other Hida beef places in the area (as far as I can tell). Also good jazz music during our meal.

Great taste. Please enjoy Hida beef. There is space to eat outside, but I recommend eating inside. Is the takeout system quite cheap?

No trip is complete without enjoying the local Hida beef. And I'll recommend this restaurant. Not the most fanciful, and probably you will miss it from google maps as it doesn't have an English name. But rest assure, the food quality here is on point. Cosy restaurant too and very quiet for a nice relaxing meal.

was looking for some last minute food before heading back to auberge, this was a surprise. good selection of innovative sushi and classic local pieces, very tasty. could have eaten more but very happy with my choice.

This place was amazing! If you want to try Hida beef it's a great starting point that won't break the bank. We tried the Hida beef yakatori (skewer of meat cooked on a charcoal grill), the Hida beef sushi, and the Hida beef steak. They were all amazing and just melted in your mouth! You can also just order some take away yakatori and sushi at the outside takeaway window.
